The theme for April 2019 is AFTER DARK.

Entries to be posted in this thread by 23:59 on Tuesday 30th April 2019. A poll will go up for seven days afterwards.

Entries must be SHOT ON FILM, and must be TAKEN ON OR AFTER THE 28th NOVEMBER 2018.

This thread is for entries only. The rules and themes can be found here, and the discussion thread for 2019 is here.

Re-creating a shot I took in 1977 (lost negative in 1980) Double exposure of 4ftx4ft poster in room light 1/30s at f/2 and candle by own light 1/30s at f/4 (after dark!). The poster, like me, is more wrinkled than in 1977. Used the same lens but had to substitute a Zenit B for the original Zenith E as that needs some work on the shutter.

Zenit B with f/2 Helios 44 Ilford Kentmere 100 exposed as 200 ISO and dev'd in stock Ilford ID11

(This taken while dripping blood almost unnoticed in the dark!)

Pentax MX, Vivitar 35-70/2.8 lens at maybe 50mm, Acros 100, f/5.6, 32 seconds, [ETA:] devved in HC 110 B for 4 minutes in the Rondinax (continuous slow rotation; this time was 20 seconds or about 5% under the suggested 4:20, to try to reduce expected contrast a bit)

Congratulations to @Harlequin565 for winning this month with his excellent interpretation of the theme. He just pipped @Carl Hall and @ChrisR to the post, deservedly coming joint second.

Well done to everyone, there were some great photos entered this month.

@Harlequin565 don't forget to contact yourself for a print of your winning image! ;)

I'm really surprised. I continue to be a bit mystified by the voting (probably a good thing) but not complaining as I inch up the leaderboard. Still a ways to go yet :)

As I won, I'm happy to offer prints to those coming in 2nd, so @Carl Hall & @ChrisR if you would like to take me up on that, let me know.
Drop me a PM with...
Your chosen image (or a link to it) - doesn't have to be your entry, can be anything. I print on A4, so a pixel dimension of 3300x2400 or thereabouts would be great. jpeg is fine.
I have "lustre/silk" (part gloss) and matt papers so if you have a preference, let me know. I also have some specialist papers which I'll use depending on the image. Still trying to find a decent (darkroom-like) gloss but struggling.
Your postal address and I'll pop it in the post. 2nd class signed for.

No rush, and no obligation to take me up on it. I delete all the images after I've done the print.

That is a great image, Ian... but I really, really want to know how you managed to take a photo of a young woman on a crowded train... without getting arrested!

Thanks Ian, I'd really like to take you up on that, probably with this image as I have difficulty printing black and white well. PM soon...

The M3 is quite small & discreet. The shutter is very very quiet too.

I took this one on a tube train with my Canon Sure Shot Telemax, a camera that has a pretty loud "Hey everyone. I just took your picture!" film advance motor sound. No-one batted an eyelid. If people are engaged in something else, they don't tend to notice you photographing them.

Matters were not helped by it being the last shot on the roll, so it was followed by about 15 seconds of the noisy motor rewinding the film. :)

Thank you Ian, that's very kind and I'd love to get a print. I will have a think about which one and give you a PM. Thanks :)

Ian, missed the post yesterday and picked up the print today. It is lovely! Thank you very much indeed.

Glad you liked it. I'm not convinced by Permajet's new "Legacy Gloss" myself. I actually thought the test print looked best - lovely rich blacks.
