Almost certainly down to the UV filter  may as well take it off IMO it serves no useful purpose again strictly IMO

IMO? Also I think I will next time, I may go out again to get the shot, I mean I do like it with it in there, but then again I think it would of been better without the filter.

Thanks :)

Definitely looks like a filter problem to me. I only ever use UV filters when its really dusty or wet. Otherwise, put a lens hood on for protection and stray light ray reduction and I think you will have an awesome shot there. Great photo spoiled by the light huh, who'd of thought it possible.

Shooting directly to the sun usualy causes some problems without a filter.. With a filter you are asking for trouble, as clearly demonstrated on the photo.
The light has hit the front element of the lens, then bounced onto the rear of the filter and bounced back in again.
A GOOD filter shouldnt do that, but any extra glass infront of your lens will cause some issues.

Take the thing off and just be careful.
