am trying to get my filter off one of my lenses to clean it, but it won't come off

properly, won't come off.

anyone got any tips for getting a filter off a lens when they are being stubborn?

Rubber gloves?:naughty:

Rubber gloves works a treat when I have this problem....

had this problem in the past all i did was press lens/filter against the sole of my shoe gave it a good twist that did the trick i think holding onto the filter can sometimes make it more difficult to free it

I use one of the none-slip mats designed for assisting getting the lid off jars

I had this problem after dropping an old lens - nothing damaged but the filter was stuck on hard! I had to resort to using a small screwdriver to lever the threads back into alignment and then a sheet of rubber to help grip.

Can you imagine the new sub title if you accidentally posted that comment in the wrong thread

Always best to get a grip with rubber gloves I find :help:

still stuck. might have to use some rubber like people have been saying, but gonna get some winter gloves out first as I'm pretty allergic to rubber. an dont have any in my room?

/does it on neighbours car

The harder you grip the filter by hand the more it distorts slightly and the harder it is to move it. A filter wrench will grip it evenly around its circumference and will remove it.
The best thing to try if you have not got a wrench is to place the lens, filter side down, onto a rubber mat, the rubber back of a fabric mat, a car mat, or the sole of a shoe or slipper. Press down quite hard and evenly on the lens and twist the lens anti-clockwise.

grrr i cant find any rubber surfaces! being someone thats allergic to it, thats probably a good thing but i need this filter off >:(
