Filters on M43? hard or very hard sirs? (oo-er)

If you mean my post then I can use either slot.

That was a typo

No I was referring to jakeblu's message from Wednesday 2:16

From memory the filter holder itself has a gasket so the filters fit snuggly (I've not used mine for a while ;))

I see, that would explain it - mine does not have a gasket on the holder so the Lee filters (with gasket) fit perfectly.

I'm getting confused now  I assume using you mean using lee filters with a gasket on a lee holder (assumably without a gasket) fit perfectly?

Funnily enough, no haha. I use Lee Seven5 filters (which have a gasket) with my Haida holder (which does not have a gasket) and they fit perfectly :)

Sorry to add to the confusion :D

For those who use grads. I've just bought a kit on here and none of the ND's have gaskets. This means that the filters will not fit in the holder nearest the lens. Does it matter, is light leak a problem with 2,3 and 5 stop NDs

Have a look at the holder, the slots nearest the lens have a small spacer fitted which can be removed to make the gap the same size as a normal filter. I have an Hitech 6 stop which has a gasket. If I want to use a grad filter I remove the spacers so it fits snuggly as it hasn't got a gasket

Removing spacers would make it wider, it's already two wide for the filter to fit, it just slipped through. I'm assuming the wider gap is to accommodate a filter with a gasket.

Which way do you mean wider? The filters are 85mm wide. Is you filter narrower? Or are you referring to depth of the filter?

This first picture shows the small spacer and the second shows the left side it's fitted the right side it's removed and makes the gap smaller to hold the filter.

Yeah, I meant as in thickness. I see in the picture you provided the spacer you meant. Will look on mine later. Cheers, I appreciate the help

Hopefully it will help and solve your issue. The only ND I have is 6 stops with a gasket. I just tend to use a graduated ND in the next slot then I have the polariser holder fitted.

That worked a treat, thanks

Just to update this thread, I decided on going down the Nisi route. I've ordered the Shapeways adapter for the lens and the filter is being ordered this week. Once that turns up coupled with the filter holder and filter pouch I have waiting for me in the UK I have finally accumulated the basics needed for long exposure work in the daytime :)

Hopefully within a couple of weeks we will be ready to rock and roll!
