Yes
after lots of careful consideration and looking at funds i can't afford to buy a 300mm f/4 on its own but with my summer internship and student loan i can afford to buy it on a 12 month interest free finance deal, of 12 month 0% credit card.
but i have the issue that i am a student so does anyone know of any places that would give me a credit card with 0% for 12 months that i can use for this purchase or somewhere that would give me finance?

thanks

alastair

Don't get into buying stuff on credit. Its not worth it IMO. Thats what my mum used to do when she was a student, and was in massive debt in the end as she just kept buying. The result is she doen't even have a debit card today. If you can't afford it, don't get it, IMHO.

Whilst I agree that this may be a "Rule of thumb", don't rule credit out just because some people can't handle it. Use it to your advantage.
If you need the lens and it will earn you money, and you can get 0% or low finance, go for it. :)

I'd echo what treeman says. Credit can be a mare if you abuse it, but if you can comfortably afford 12 months interest free and you use it professionally (even if you don't) there's no reason not to.

If you can make the lens work for you then it's worth a shot. No doubt about it.

Also, remember that the lens will fetch a decent resale value down the line should you decide decide to sell.

Ello Alastair,

Have you tried Jessops 'cos they're doing 12 months interest free at the moment. I don't know if there are any restrictions with you being a student but it's got to be worth a punt... :)

See ya soon,

Oh b****r... that's a pain in the rear. :(

I can't think of anywhere else off hand.
See ya,

Speak to Jacobs and Warehouse Express as they all did credit, but I haven't checked to see if they still offer it.

Does your bank do a student credit card? Whilst it probably will not have 0% interest, and if you desperately want the lens, then it may be worth a go. I think a lot of the 0% interest cards are more offers to get people to transfer their balances to them, but to still use the card to buy things too (ie not pay it off as fast!)
