I'm not a bird photographer and only managed to catch this one by chance. He was sitting on a rock and let me get fairly close before flying off. Unfortunately I only had an 18-135mm so these are a bit of a tight crop and I didn't quite get the focus on the eyes.

According to Wikipedia (my source for all knowledge) its a member of the fly catcher family. You find them in the Middle East and stretching from Turkey to Pakistan and Afghanistan. It's name, apparently is a corruption of the phrase 'white arse' because they have a white rear end :)

sometimes in Cyprus I believe ........ where did you see it Alex?

Nice shot. I thought I had a shot of one in Bulgaria earlier in the year, seemingly they hybridise with Pied Wheatear. I never did get to the bottom of it!

Never even heard of this one Alex :) Prefer #1 myself.
