FireFox 4 now available

I've just taken a look at an FF4 screenshot and it's funny how they're now the ones copying the IE/google chrome layout, almost exactly. How times change!

EDIT: Opera is the same - looks like everyone's copying Google Chrome at the moment.

.."the location bar (aka the Awesome Bar)..........."

Dearie me!

Can you run FF3 in parallel or does it insist on uninstalling the old version?

Yes you can run both, well on a Mac you can, have been using version 4 for a few weeks now (albeit the Beta version)

Ok how do I get the status bar at the bottom again please

Another add on I just found useful is the hide menu bar Clicky Linky hides or appears using Alt or F10, also can be made to auto appear on mouse over the Firefox title at the top of the browser

is it just me have they swapped open in new tab and open in new window around on the right click menu? i keep opening new windows :|

Yes, they have.

I generally just click with the scroll wheel for a new tab though so it's not much of a problem.

How are you running v3 and v4 on the same Mac? When I go to move FF4 into the Applications folder I'm asked whether I want it to replace the existing Firefox app.

Downloaded Firefox 4 earlier - just having a nosey at the moment......

Oh no ! - I've lost my little green progress bar that tells me how slow things are loading.

Okay, where's the option to import bookmarks gone? On the Mac version, there's no Organize Bookmarks menu item under the Bookmarks menu!

Click bookmarks, which should open up the bookmarks dialogue box and the option to organise is there.

EDIT:

Click bookmarks, then show all bookmarks which should open up the bookmarks dialogue box and the option to organise is there.

Sorry, not with you. What does the bit in bold mean?
At a guess (for someone who doesn't have a Mac) it means it isn't obvious that the option is there. Look for a yellow star with two green arrows to the bottom right hand side.

What I do:

Click bookmarks, then show all bookmarks which should open up the bookmarks dialogue box and the option to organise is there.

Missed out a little earlier on... this is the Windows version.

Is it me or does firefox 4 seem really slow...

I am going to sites and they are taking ages to load with some things acting weird on sites (buttons not working etc)

Does anyone know how to customise the search engine bar so that it uses google.co.uk instead of .com?

 That was it, thank you!

When I installed FF4, my bookmarks were already there when I restated FF.

It's probably due to the fact that I'm running FF3 and FF4 concurrently. I've got them both open now, side by side for comparison before I make the jump completely.

Ah, I see. Doesn't appear to be an option then, probably because it assumes you would be upgrading FF3.

... but there is! See above. All sorted now. It seems they just did away with Organize Bookmarks
