FireFox 4 now available

Show All Bookmarks looks pretty much the same as Organise Bookmarks from what I can tell, where's the option to import them from FF3?

Here...

I know! It baffles me why they have to shuffle the UI about so much. I'm not sure if it's because the developers necessarily think it improves the experience or whether it just helps justify the major revision number bump!

I've found that the back button doesn't work to go back to the first page on each the tab. It's already been reported so hopefully a patch will be released soon. Other than that I like it.

Is it me or does firefox 4 seem really slow...

I am going to sites and they are taking ages to load with some things acting weird on sites (buttons not working etc)

I'm finding it slow - my hard drive starts chuntering and I get the spinning ball of boredom, then it speeds up again. Not sure if I should be worried or not. Mind you it could have something to do with the huge number of tabs and apps I have open.

I've lost Screengrab as it's not compatible. Does anyone know of anything similar?

Just installed FF4 on both my desktop and laptop pc's - so far so good :)

I didn't need to do anything to import bookmarks/etc, which I thought would be a headache :bonk:

Several of the add-ons I used in FF3 aren't working but I'm hoping for updates in the next week, or so. One slight annoyance is that my absolute favourite theme - Noia 2 Extreme reports as being incompatible. However it appears to be working on my desktop machine ... but not the laptop. Anyone else use that theme and have it working? Anyone suggest another nice theme? I don't like the Chrome-like standard one :gag:

I see no reason to change from FF3 to FF4 until sometime around 4.1 ...having been with Firefox since...dunno, must have been v.1 or something, I know when they make a major release its best to wait until several months have passed before its (a) stable (b) reasonably bug free and compatible with all websites (c) the 3rd party addons that make it a great browser actually all work. Its only when the addon developers start dropping the older versions its worth moving on...

but hey, feel free to install it and find all the broken websites and addons for me, I'm bored with beta testing "release" products that don't work as well as their predecesors, which seems to be the norm with all software nowadays...

Heh, this is why I'm running both versions. This way, I get to see whether FF4 provides me with any benefits. So far, nothing's really leaping out at me as being better.

Oh, I completely agree with you so I'm running both FF3 and FF4 in tandem. So far the only site giving any trouble is eBay (and that's no real hardship) where I get some redirection problems after log-in.

Yes same here i keep opening new windows everytime.
This post was posted in a new window

Me too. I can understand why they've moved the Open Link in New Tab to the top of the list because it's the one I use most often. Just used to Open in New Window being at the top and having to aim a little lower!

You guys are not alone. Its going to take while to reprogram old habits.

Do you not have a 3 button mouse? Normally, the middle button (scrollwheel) is set to open in new tab.

I used to do that, but now I have a Magic Mouse with no middle button. I believe their are software workarounds, but I haven't tried them yet.

I tried it earlier today. It was awful i really think that Firefox has gone downhill :(

well, FF4 has just ground to a halt AGAIN. going on for 600mb for 5 tabs. rediculous.

I've been working with 5 tabs for the last couple of hours and been monitoring it and it's never been over 200mb....

On PC? Right click on taskbar and select task manager then the processes tab shows memory used by apps....

Running FF4 in 32 bit mode on my 64bit W7 laptop with 5 tabs open = 135MB

Doesn't change much even if I open another couple of tabs.
