Yes, you can import all favourites over when you first start it up!

There is nothing that will immediately interrupt your browsing...but it's best to make sure you have all the plugins installed...flash, quicktime etc! :)
 
I switched over a long time ago - via safari, opera and camino :D

No pitfalls, in fact you'll find firefox's functionality better especially with useful add-ons but like purpleclouds says do get your plug ins sorted first.

As above, but also get IE tabs & exif data plugins.
 
i always wondered, what is it that IE tabs everyone seems to gush about it?
 
I use Firefox pretty much all the time. It works the same on Windoze, Linux, Mac, ...
I like it :thumbs:

IE only works on windoze and thats sometimes a problem because a few sites have Windoze only web code. Which is really annoying in work, being Linux based and not being able to easily use a PC. GRRR!

Yep, I did ages ago. Haven't used IE for ages.

No pitfalls at all, Firefox far better than IE.

Yes, all your favs do transfer.

Why not just try it...? you have nowt to lose!
 
I switched over recently because I wanted that Greasemonkey plugin to use people's icons in the replies in Flickr.

For me, the first thing I noticed is that Firefox seems to draw the images on and although it's still quick I think IE preloads an image first before showing it so it "seems" quicker. Although website designs can also determine if the image is preloaded or not.

Also, two things I've noticed which annoy me, although there may be a setting I can change, is that if you are half way down a gallery then click on a photo then use the back button it takes you back to the top of the page and not back to where you were in the gallery unlike IE. The other thing is streaming videos in Media Player. IE would let it stream but Firefox seems to download it all first before playing. As said, there may be settings to change this but I've not really looked yet.
 
used firefox years back and it as great, then went to IE7 when that was released, now back to firefox at home as i find it easier to use and it loads pages faster

use IE7 here at work
 
the add-ons keep me with ff - camino was good if only ff add-ons were compatible, does opera have add-ons and stuff?

Tend not to use add on's so not really investigated.

recently started using firefox, not got a gripe with either and both work/do the job. prefer IE as it what im used to, but some of the firefox add ons are nice
 
Firefox all the way. Don't even have IE installed on my desktop. Do need it on laptop to check website compatability though. Apart from that, I hate IE.
 
I much prefer firefox over IE. The plugins on firefox win the day for me, there's such a large community writing them you can customise your browser to your hearts content!

If you're determined to leave IE then give Opera a go too.

Both will able you to import your favourites from IE without hassle.

i recommend Firefox. been on it for since Version 2.0 and off-hand, can't think of anything to add to whats already been said regarding FF's better functionality :thumbs:
 
It takes a lot longer to load FF initially than IE but after it's loaded, it is much faster.

So if you just want to open a browser to check something on the web, IE is much faster.

If you have FF already open, then it is faster.
 
I use all the major browsers daily, and out of choice I use firefox, it seems a bit more joined up. amd less invasive to a webpage
