Firmware 1.0.6 for the 50D?

I have been in contact with Canon re my lens and they have informed me that I need to get the latest firmware update 1.0.6 for my 50D. Haven't heard of this firmware update - Anyone using it and got any experience of it?

Will still send off lens regardless, but wondered what benefits there are of the 1.0.6 firmware.
 
I haven't heard of this update either. Off to have a look now.......
 
Ive had it on since it came out with no issues, but i didnt have any problems before.

hi guys how do you install this?

do you need the canon software installed? Mines at home so I will have to wait a week (and want to update my camera)
 
No SW required, simply download the file and copy it to your CF card....the instructions are on the website.

Yup as Bob says. Just to elaborate a little. Download the firmware, put it on an "in camera" formatted CF card. Put card in camera. Select Firmware version on the 3rd yellow menu. The camera will find the new firmware on the CF card and ask if you want to update. Job done! :)

You cant just copy the file onto the CF card - you need to extract it onto the CF card by executing the downloaded file on you PC and extracting the firmware onto the CF card
 
I installed it a few weeks back, and noticed precisely zero difference!
 
you also need to format your card in your camera and place the file in the exact location as specified in the on screen insructions, so the camera finds the update when you proceed with the firmware update :thumbs:

And a full battery :thumbs:
