Beginner first try at layering

think a few more layers would have made it look better


One thing for sure, the actual layers are sufficient
but the highlights recovery could be tweaked prior
to flattening.
 
have just noticed a big white blob on the right side of the weir....missed it before now its all i keep getting drawn too:mad:.... will give it another go
 
To be honest, you don't need layers or a heavy ND filter to get the long exposure look.

Presumably you have a tripod and a polariser? Get yourself down to a waterfall on a dull day, and bang on the polariser. Use the lowest ISO rating and the smallest aperture. You should get exposures in the region of 1/2 second and that should do the trick.
