Any tips?
Its in a registrar office, no flash. Then outside for some shots in a park(weather permitting) about 4pm ish ( I'm guessing the light will be falling dramaticly by then), then off to the hotel for the reception. I've got a 40D with a borrowed 580EX with a stofen diffuser and a EF-S 17-55mm f2.8, any tips appreciated :)

watch your b/g's
watch your exposures.
check the images on the back " chimp" to make sure there in focus..
shoot raw " just incase"
enjoy yourself.

have a plan of shots wanted and tick them off..

use a tripod if you have one

enjoy yourself

relax

keep a eye on your iso

enjoy yourself

Love the light falling dramatically bit - it will be pitch black at 4 !

Have you got the flash already, if so grab someone now and get out and do some testing I would say, with 2.8 you will pick up some ambient light, obviously streetlights will be on but that will give a nasty cast, shoot in RAW and I would reccomend beer !

Sorry not much help :(

Yep decided already to shoot raw for "just incase" reaseons :)

Good tips about backgrounds etc, thanks

Wedding is in Carlisle around 2:30pm, not sure how long the service will take, but guessed to be outside around 4ish, might be earlier though, hadn't planned on taking a tripod , but might just do that now :)

Cheers guys/girls

Yeah tried a few outside shots at 7pm last night, not great, juat a man in a black noisy hole...

Good suggestion about the beer, but exactly where on the camera should I pour it to help:thinking:

Camera was set to manual, f2.8, 1/30ish, iso was pretty high 1000+, just trying to get some of the background in, but the streetlights were making a horrible mess of things too...

Thanks for all the advice everyone, I'm sure it'll be fine, otherwise I'll be on the first flight to Mexico :)

By no means an expert, in fact I have my first wedding shoot Christmas Eve, but I think I read somewhere and since you are on a time constraint...

Do the whole group first! Not normally the case, but I would suggest getting a few of the B&G first quickly.. then get EVERYBODY together and then weedle it down. Apparently it makes for less "Searching" e.g wheres Bob & Jane.. etc I want them next....

Plus the children if there are any will be getting more bored and restless and MUDDY! if they are left to hang around too long.

Just what I read.

Very best of luck - Hope it goes well.

Timewise and lightwise you are definitely up against it.

you think you've got it hard? I'm going to be taking MY OWN wedding photos on new years eve. I have to give my mum a crash course on using a 450D to get b&me, a tripod & timer for the group (only 6 people total) & i'll be taking pics of my bride & my girls etc & then back home for indoor shots of cake cutting etc. Do you guys take shots of the bride walking up the aisle? Also i was thinking of using P mode to make things a bit simpler & stress free. Yes it will all be in RAW.
