fitting wireless PCI card

I need to get my Pc up and running using wireless(yeh i know ...i'm behind the times ) ,the model i have is the Acer Aspire X3200 . I'm after some basic information ,is this a straight plugin and play or is there a wee bit more to it than that,another question is... which PCI card should i go for if indeed this is the way to go ?.

Some people say to use USB dongal type PCI .

I don't know enough about this so i thought i'd ask you guys on here (keep it simple now mind )

Looks like a low profile case, a standard PCI card might not fit.

Look for a low profile PCI card, but again acer might not use a standard size (which is the norm from retailers when using a smaller than standard size case)

Id play it safe and get a decent USB wifi dongle or even the powerline ethernet adapters from netgear, they are good these days.

If this is the same case, which it apparntly is, you don't have any PCI slots (unless the black line is a slot and not a cable, open it up and have a look), USB/powerline are your only options

I fitted a wifi card in my computer to link up with my printer. However they don't appear to be able to "talk" to each other . Now I am a complete numpty about electronics and wireless thingies so have no idea what to do to make them compatible and there is no instructions on the card box either. So I have left the two hard wired. So my point is make sure the two items are compatible before making any purchase.

Any wifi card is compatible with another IP device.. wireless A/B/G/N your connecting device must also be A/B/G/N obviously

It would have more than likely been a networking or IP problem between your PC and the printer through the router/gateway

Thanks Ric for trying to explain but I am going to leave as is, as I said I have no idea about these things.
When I went to school we used slide rules and wind up watches, how many can still use a slide rule?

TV was in Black and White for a few hours in the evening. No one had ever heard of something called a computer because they wern't invented. You were lucky to even have a radio in a car let alone heating, thats if you could afford a car and tele. No such thing as central heating either. Infact nothing digital because it wasn't invented

As for mp3 players I wouldn't recognise one if it was thrown at me and operating a remote control for a tele or setting up eletronic stuff is so hard its nigh impossible.

What really annoys me is if you go into a store selling this stuff you get some smart arse kid expecting you to know what a thing can do and how to use it. Texting on a mobile phone takes a genius so I don't do it. Yes I can just about use a computer (self taught) and fix a few problems that crop up from time to time but thats about it.

I am still wondering how people are inside Sat Navs and know where I am, the ladies sound really nice.
Even my car now tells me on a little screen if I havn't shut a door properly, not if I wish to drive with my car door not shut properly
