Flash...forgot my diffuser

Hi folks,

Work Xmas do tonight, have brought along my Camera to get a few snaps (until I'm about 10 drinks in then it will go into the cloak room).

Problem is I've forgot to take my diffuser.......I've never shot without it so don't actually know how much difference it makes.

I usually bounce the flash off the ceiling anyway, but I've no idea if tonights venue has a high ceiling or not! I'm a bit screwed?

Thoughts would be welcomed, I might be able to find a place locally that sells diffusers, but its getting late in the day.

What flash do you have. Canon Speedlites have a built in diffuser. Not as good as a Sto Fen but will help.

Tesco, bottle of carex handwash, empty, cut off the top. Take flash to make sure get correct size. £2. Diffuser. Done!

Canon 430EX, sorry I really should have said that.

Good idea on the paper with a band! Have seen someone using that once before, maybe they made the same mistake.

Unless there is anywhere I can buy one on Oxford St? I doubt John Lewis etc have then, and certaily not cheaply.

Tissue paper wont help at all.

Or the bottom of a small plastic 1pt milk bottle with either blue tak or velcro to hold it on...

M&S - some kind of soap bottle from them or try the teco express.
Failing that hit the works kitchen/toilets and see if there is a soap/milk carton that ould work.

Failing that a business card with an elastic band around it as a bounce card.

the bubble wrap idea is the best

good ideas here...does anyone have any idea of a diffuser for a pop up flash as on my oly e420
i use it occasionally on 1/64 daylight shooting for fill and eyelights
but would be good to get a softbox effect if possible for fuller flash power settings
cheers
geof
