Hi ya,

Well my basic question is regarding lighting / Flash...

Im new to photography, and basically not sure if i should go for a flash gun first, Say sigma 500 or 530, or the canon 430ex or second hand 420...

Or should i not go for flash gun, save up some more money and go for eiher these 2 items, i know that if i do the second, then when out and about i only have the on camera flash..

Any help would help, or recommendations of a different product, cheaper the better at min as budget is tight

ok. depends what you want to do realy. if you just want to do indoor portrait type stuff, studio flash is the way to go.that kit looks pretty decent for the money.
but.... if you want to have something which will widen your photography generaly, you want an on camera flash.
as a first lighting purchase, i'd go for a camera top flash.
i run a 430ex on my canon 350 and 30.excelent unit.and works better than a non factory flash.
although a second hand 420 is a decent starting point if you cant run to a 430.

Plus if you expand what you want to do with flash you can use more than one and have a really nice portable setup. Have a look at strobist.com to see what I mean.

Although I do still use studio lights for indoor shoots for the power and light modifiers, flah is a lot more portable.
