Hi guys, I've been trying to research potential flash triggers and have come across a few potential candidates.

Iv got a Canon Eos 450D, and currently have one Canon Speedlite, im looking to advance my car photography skills so the investment in remote flash triggers and some cheap 2nd hand flashes, should help me in my quest.

are some of what I have been looking at, since I would be looking to get cheap flashes to start with compatibility is key. It would be something like 200E Speedlites from Canon.

I'm really looking into getting a transmitter and 2 receivers, with a budget of as cheaply as possible, as I'd still have to purchase a 2nd flash unit.

Any help would be much appreciated guys, the Yongnuo unit seems to me to be the better of what I have seen....but what do I know :lol:

Yongnuo RF-602 from Amazon.
 
Bit more money but said to be better built

Cactus V5 from Gadget Infinity Each unit is a transceiver with 16 channels and radio frequency: 2.4GHz so much greater working distance.

:agree: Yongnuo RF-602 is defo the way to go. I have used mine almost daily for the last 12mths and they have never let me down.

Rite guys need a little more help with this, I dont want to over spec the flashes I have for the remote triggers, so looking into: 160E, 200E, 300EZ, 420EZ Canon Speedlites.

Looking to purchaase them soon, so Il be looking for a couple of pointers on what I'm doing :)
 
Seriously, it's not possible to over spec a flash gun. Grab as much (adjustable) power as you can get.

Canon flashguns, especially old ones like these aren't generally considered to be much cop for off-camera use. As Richard said, you need something that you can adjust the power on manually. If buying used the best advice is to go for something like the Nikon SB24/SB25/SB26 models which are well regarded amongst the Strobist community.
 
Just checked a video review and the RF602 looks ideal for me cheers for the recomendations, just spec'ing up some flashes to get to try and practice with.

looking at getting a 540EZ or a 420EZ and a smaller flashlike a 200/300EZ just to so I have 3 flashes to try is out with.
 
The 420ez has a function which puts it into sleep mode after 90 seconds of idle time and neither the 200 or 300ez look as if they have any way to adjust the output manually, meaning every shot has to be at full power, so none of these are really suitable for off-camera use.

Just to clarify what I said earlier, just because you have a Canon camera doesn't mean you need to use Canon flashguns for off-camera use, as long as you can adjust the power output and the trigger voltage is under 12v then you can use any make or model of flashgun.
 
I've had my rf602 for nearly 2 years they great.
