Has anyone noticed an absence of Flickr comments lately?

There used to be a lot of comments left but these have dried up on many peoples Flickr accounts

Whats the best way to get people talking about the images you take (apart from taking better photos)

Is the trick to join special interest groups?
 
Join good groups (active, <300 members), join special interest groups, tag carefully, make sure you spend as long commenting on others photos as you'd like them to spend commenting on yours. Collect a group of Contacts that provide genuine comments and make sure you keep up-to-date with what they're posting.

Noone will find your shots if they're not in any groups and you use obscure tags. Hint - "coffee" is a useful tag for a cup of coffee :D

And post less. Seriously, posting more than five images a day won't get you any more comments. Posting one image at a time a couple of days a part will get you more and better comments.

Rather like asking for crit here.
 
Most people would do well do join fewer groups. How many can you really be truly acyive in and keep up to date with? I seem to creep up to 30 or so groups then cull back to just over a dozen or so when I realise that there's only two or three I'm an active member of, and maybe a dozen or so others that provide technical advice or inspiration.

Avoid ego spinach groups at all costs.. you'll soon realise that the attention is all hollow.
 
If anyone comments on mine i try to reciprocate, i try not to add comments to my own preferably commenting on theirs unless i know the person.
I got so many groups it takes me ages to add a single shot :lol:

You could try posting them here, it is a photography forum...
 
personally i turned off comments for people that weren't in my contacts. it was all just stuff like "wow thats great, heres a gold medal. now come join my group..".

i prefer to pop any i want crit/comments on up on here/other forums.
