Looked at a comment I had received on Flickr, havent been on for a month or so, checked out the stats on one picture in one day, so far its on 11.5k!! every time I press refresh it jumps in about 5-20 figures lol

Us Yahoo added it to their gallery or somthing so I am assuming everyon ein america is just clicking the linky.

Always fun when that happens :) I am always amazed at flickr stats; frequently an image stats shoot up for no apparent reason. Only when I visit stats I find that it has been linked to by someone or other.

Do you want to allow us the same pleasure that Yahoo users are getting?

The guy who had the main page was getting 3000 hits a minute

Well b****r me, my most viewed image on flickr comes in at under 100...

Great image though, can see why they are going nuts for it.
 
I know, I haven't been on flickr for months as well! I was on night I got loads of flickr e mails to my phone... I was like what the fooooook!

Also, Robbo... how weird is this, right. Nowhere near as impressive as yours, but my photo views (as a total) the past 7 days are:

78, 75, 71, 0, 66, 582, 129....

0?! 582!? Flickr is a cruel mistress! Oh, and 96% of them are from Flickr, not an external source... :?

It's truely so variable! "Random" would not be right, but variable certainly... some of my "better" pictures, in my eyes, are not what get the attention... (talking about my pictures and other peoples), and then others which are not so good (mine and others) do get lots of attention!

The Explore page on Flickr is supposed to include the top 500 shots that have shown the most ' interingness ' over the last week. The way they callculate it, is suppossed to be based on several unknown factors. To be honest the vast majority of photo's on the Explore page tend to be good shots.
Having only managed to get 3 of my own shots on this page, I was curious to discover how certain folk managed to obtain several hundred. I noted some trends and followed same, and hey presto, managed to get a forth on the explore page at the first attempt. Having said that I have tried another couple of times to follow the same formula and failed. So who knows:thinking:

Anyway in theory your shot, should have made the explore page based on your stat, and it is a cracking shot. You can check it under the flickr help, and pick from the drop down menu.

It tends to be only photos uploaded in the last day or two that make it to Explore, regardless of later flurries like that (but not always). So unless it's a new one, even massive flurries might not help. "Scout" searches for you:

and says Robbo's not had any in Explore yet. Massive amounts of views don't count for much though as far as I know... favourites are better than views, and comments better still. Then things like groups and key words and title and things all count too... and even things like who comments, and if they are a regular user, or a user with previous Explore's (which helps apparently)... again, Flickr... the cruel mistress! :lol:

Hi Ash, my photo views did a very similar thing too and when I looked where the hits were coming from, it was because I had pics in the same galleries or groups as some the shots on Yahoo. :cool:
