No
I want to place some pictures on my computer into a thread.
If I am correct in my understanding I cannot do this without first uploading them to somewhere else eg. Flickr.
Are they the best one to use? Is there an issue with maximum size they allow?
Which is the best one for a beginner?

I use Photobucket, however I dont know how that compares with Flickr so maybe of no help! Its easy to use though.

i use photobucket as i found it easier to use that flickr and didnt have to get a silly yahoo account

Are you saying you need a Yahoo account to use Flickr?

No, you can create a flickr account using a gmail or even your facebook account now!

With a basic Flickr account you can only display 200 pictures.

Personally if you intend to use it for a lot more it's definitely worth getting a pro account.

I have one and it's only about £25.00 per year.

I have over 2000 pics on there (quite a lot of private ones only available for family) and consider it excellent value.

.

Thanks everyone for their views. Looks like I may have to have a go at a Flickr account.

I moved to Flickr and found less degradation of my pictures. Photobucket is good for uploading multiple pictures but there is a loss of quality. Got the pro Flickr account now which gives you access to stats.

You can have more than 200 hosted with a basic account, the 201st picture will still appear anywhere you've posted it - it just won't show up to anyone other than yourself on your Flickrstream.

That said, the community element of Flickr is worth the fee for the Pro account.

As most of the basic accounts are free, why not have both, or more! You get a lot more storage space on PhotoBucket by the way!

I'm going to add a plus one for flickr I find it very easy to use and as said above there is a great community aspect to it especially with the groups

Personally I hate photobucket it always makes my computer slow down and I don't find it that easy to navigate to the point that if say on TP someone has uploaded via PB I will not follow a link to that photo

And ImageShack!

If you're with BT internet and use that e-mail address on Flickr, you get a pro account for free ... hence why I have Flickr Pro.

Wish I had know that :bang:

Why :bang: - did you not use a BT e-mail and then pay for a pro account?

Yeah, BT do hide it. Seems strange to me that it's nowhere on their advertising, I only know from my father who works for them.

I have had an account since 2008 I think and at the time I had to register a yahoo account upgraded to a pro last year

They might not have had it going in 2008... Can't remember when BT teamed up with Yahoo, but when they did, BT internet users were given Flickr Pro accounts.

Picasaweb for me. You get 1GB of online storage for free with no restriction on the number of images or bandwidth limits. I find Flickr to be cumbersome and unwieldy to navigate, and too restrictive for the free account. I hate it. When I follow links to a Flickr image I tear my hair out in frustration. It is awful.

Photobucket ... I find alters the colour of my images slightly

Imageshack ... leaves my images as they should be, but is not as easy to navigate as Photobucket

When posting photos to forums I generally use either Flickr or Photobucket. If from my iPhone then usually always Photobucket using their app.

Thanks for replies. I have started a Flickr account and will see how it goes.
