Flickr phishing

Yes
I've recently had a couple of 'favourites' added on Flickr by supposedly young women. Typical name on the account is 'JaneSmith1'. Their homepage shows 5 or 6 pictures that look like they have been lifted from a Facebook page.
The 'About' page shows a suspicious link to their homepage in the form of - http://biSPAM.....

The Flickr forum reports that this started in early July and that accounts should be reported as spam or phishing.

Yup I've had a couple aswell. I'm always suspicious of people who favourite one of my photos . But joking aside, I didn't think about reporting them to Flickr. I'll go back and do it this evening.

Yup. Same here. I just block them but perhaps I'll report them too now.

I've recently contacted them about strange goings on like this and accounts have quickly disappeared.
A 'real person' answered [from yahoo/flickr] by email but stated nothing unusual was going on but I had several odd followers in a sort space of time.
Hard to see what can be gained from infiltrating flickr, probably some kind of automated bot doing it, but more worrying is they must be getting into real accounts perhaps long unused?

It seemed suspicious that an attractive young woman would favourite a picture of a Contax RTS with a Yashica 50 1.4 :)

That's why it's a good idea to report them. Someone will click the link.

Most likely just a porn site ad rather than a phishing scam.

Though if you had a Zeiss Planar on that it would be perfectly understandable :)

I'm actually getting these 'favourites' for an old account that contains no images at all.

Weird that. I have pics of the Planar, a Distagon and a few Tele-Tessars, but she went with the Yashica

You mean that these people don't really appreciate my work - How disappointing!

Looking at their photo streams the common theme was just a small number of photographs, it looked like spam - no links clicked.

As it happens, I just created almost exactly the same thread! (Sorry mods, didn't see this!)

You guys really investigate who faves your photos?

Not had any on Flickr but Instagram it happens all the time, they follow you and if you don't follow back they unfollow you within a few hours.

Yup. I got two separate guys, both in Russia, who each favourite a photo of mine every day.
No comments, just the next photo working backwards every day.

I've looked at them and they are both active togs who seem otherwise normal. No obvious connection bewtween the two. Why they are doing this is a mystery. Been going on for a few months now.

Well, yes!
Two different people with similar names - Janesmith1 and Lizjones1 - for instance, favouriting vintage cameras. It seemed a bit odd.

Thanks for the heads up on this as I had this a couple of days ago. User now blocked.

Yes, because so few of my images are faved by anyone. Usually it's people on here or people I know in person. Anyone else............well I just have a nasty suspicious mind ;)
Seriously, though, there are some odd ones, like when you check a user's favourites and can't find your image there. I think some people fave at random then unfave, hoping to get followers. I'm so glad my ego doesn't need massaging (you'd have to find it first)

Oo-er got one ... duly reported.

Awww, I haven't had any young ladies faving mine. :(

I had one from 'Maya Carroll' which I've reported but no action taken yet. I see two people are sad enough to be following her!
I note the two earlier accounts which faved one of my photos have disappeared - nowt to do with me.

Bots, Instagram is full of them so is 500px and now Flickr. I wonder if this will go away now that Verizon owns Flickr. They may take this more seriously then Yahoo ever did. Also noticed that you can now use 2FA to login to Flickr.

Yaaay, I got one! :kiss::banana: https://www.flickr.com/people/153246543@N07/

Presumably a lot of these are just for the number of views & likes they receive & self promotion & the feeling of self importance/competition with their mates (bloody faceberk generation  )
Have you looked at the pics she has 'faved'? A very eclectic mix :)

For instance:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/tskphoto/11090798813/in/faves-153246543@N07/
https://www.flickr.com/photos/52321899@N05/28675659704/in/faves-153246543@N07/

23 pages of them...

'She' is also following 2,200 people. That's a lot of clicking going on in just a few hours.

Obviously an aspiring wannabe model/celebrity  with not a lot else to do I guess.
