Flickr Views?

Yes
I've been wondering this for a while. I see people have had their flickr views rise dramatically, thats because it's been posted upon another site.

But how do the views rise over Flickr? If I post my photographs on a website, nothing changes on the viewcount on Flickr, it's only if you directly go onto the Flickr site.

Thank You.

If the images are shared as links/thumbnails (rather than images) on Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr people have to click through to your image to see it. Getting an imaged Tumbld or go viral around a friendship group on Facebook can see a significant spike in views.

There's been a few threads recently on getting Flickr views, worth reading those if you're interested in some ego massage.. :D

Sorry, I'm not sure if I worded it right. I mean how do people notice that they're image has been stolen when they get an out of the blue amount of views on a single photo.

If you get a burst of views, then it probably hasn't been stolen as such. If you are getting lots of views that can only come from a direct link, either a linked use of the image or a direct hyperlink.

Usually a stolen image will have been grabbed from your Flickrstream and rehosted or otherwise used.. there is no link, no views, no stats rise to be seen.

I had one image go mad last year it was a picture of the moon and it made it onto explore on flickr, then the following day it was linked on stumbleupon.com and I got 2,300 view from there in a single day  it's amazing what happens when something goes viral, and it's going to happen even more with the new feature of share on facebook

I don't understand. You've been able to share on Facebook for ages now.

Adding images to groups is the easier way to get additional views. Tagging helps, especially with keywords that will be popular search criteria.

Whenever I place a shot up on TP (or on another forum) for critique then you do see an increase in traffic, especially if you do as suggested and post a small size image, as most people will click on it to try and go through to a larger view.

Like Mat says, you can post an image somewhere, it gets 'Explored' and it fall under a popular search criteria and you suddenly have a rake of views that go into the thousands....

I had a similar situation with a cityscape shot of mine which found its way onto StumbledUpon and had about 800 views in a day. The image was a couple of months old at the time, just that someone found it and shared it! Still my top viewed photo by a considerable margin these days.
