focal length query

Hi there, I'm still learning photography with my D40 that I got before xmas and loving learing about it.

I have a focal length/lens question...

My 18-55mm DX lens is eqivalent to FF 27-82.5mm because of the 1.5 crop factor of my sensor, correct??

Does this mean that if I bought a 50mm f/1.8 (i think it's refered to nifty fifty :clap:) that the equivalent focal length on my camera would be 35mm, because it's not a DX lens?

Still trying to get my head round some stuff.

Wow that's quick, cheers loads!!

So no matter what lens I use DX or FF the equivalent focal length is always 1.5x.
