I'm a bit confused over how to achieve complete sharpness or focus over a whole object.

How do I keep the complete barb wire in focus so the whole length is tack sharp.

I have a canon 1000d and 18-55 kit lens. Can it be done with this camera.

Stopping down to f/11-f/16 will help and backing away from the subject will help a little more.

Also it looks like you were shooting at a slight angle to the wire - get straight on and it will be sharp across the frame.

As Bob says, stopping down will help as will moving away (And if necessary cropping a bit more)

Ok guys.

As there was not much light around I struggled with F16. So I suppose a tripod and longer exposure to get F16 could do it as well.
