Focus point question

Forgive me if I get the terminology wrong as I haven't got my camera/manual with me for referrence.

When I am composing a photograph and I change the focus point (in the view finder) using the dial at the back of my camera and then review in camera (on LCD) the focus point is where I placed it and took the photograph.

However, when I focus and recompose the focus point is always central, ie, not where I focused.

Can anyone offer and advice on this?

Thanks.

Hmmmm I think it is to do with one of the focus setting ie - AF-??, one will remember the focus points if you move or the thing you are taking a pic of does. If yopu still need help later I will look at my book and camera when I get home :D

When using the "focus, recompose" method most people have selected the middle focus point only. They then lock the focus point where they want focus and recompose and take the shot, if using the correct apperture the focus plane should be deep enough to nail the focus where desired. Is this what you were wondering or have I picked you up wrong?

If you're using a single focus point, it will show the one you used to focus, not the "spot" on the image that's in focus.
