Formula 1 Goes to Donington

"we won't come back (to silverstone)," Ecclestone said. "I am sure they (donington) will be ready but, if not, we will sign with another country. There won't be a British Grand Prix. Pure and simple"



So If Donington don't manage to rebuild / re-infrastructure within two years Bernie gets it out of the UK (as he's been trying for years), stuffs two fingers up at the BRDC and gets to say "It's not my fault" while counting his money.

I'd be very interested in seeing the contract / get-out clauses Bernie has with Donington :suspect:

Then enjoy the Brit GP while it lasts, because sure as rats are rats, donington won't be ready in time.
 
There was already a lot of digging going on at Donington, since the begining of the year. Was that for something different? Otr is theat the normal state of affairs at Donington? :D

They were building a Motocross track on the infield, I didn't notice anything else when I was there for the BSB round.

I cannot honestly see them getting planning permision nevermind building anything within the 2 year timescale.


This is the UK, the land of red tape & indescision :shrug:
 
The CEO of whoever it was the interviewed in ITV (use the term interviewed loosely) suggested planning wasn't a problem...didn't he also mention some other bits? I wasn't really paying attention, was all about adding a new section but not changing one bit (can't remember what).

They had entered imformal planning, and that the local authorities supported motorsport. He said he wouldnt be able to change Crainer Curbs without being lenched by the fans the Melbourne loop will be altered, and another Crainer style section will be added to the infield, with a huge bowl type thing being built to be able to view alot of the track. New pits, better roads.

The digging inside the circuit was for moto cross, but there was some buildings being knocked down just outside the current pit complex at the BSB.

Good ! FO ! You really won't be missed (F1 not MrGrubby by the way lol)

All this because, allegedly, he wants the government, or should I say the taxpayer, or should I say us, to inject money into Silverstone so that they then have no reason to pay him less than we wants (which it appears he currently does).

I for one see no reason to pour money into F1's pockets.

every other country gets government help with the racing circuits, except us. So we get a tube of vaseline with every ticket if we want to go.

Donington GP circuit, is the hairpin big enough for an F1 car to turn round??
