FOUND - Sigma lens hood

Hi all,

A couple of weeks ago I found a Sigma lens hood at Richmond Park in London.

From the research I've done I would say it either fits:-

Sigma 120 - 300 F2.8

or

Sigma 10-20 or 17-35

Bearing in mind I found it at Richmond Park durring rutting season I would assume it came from the longer lens.

If you have lost one and would like it back please pm me and I'll post it to you.

And no **** takers please - someone has lost their lens hood and they deserve to have it back. Not some cheeky sod out for a freebie.
 
I would have thought the 10-20 has a shorter hood?

I thought so too mate. But they look the same on WEX website too.

The one I found looks just like yours above. But I still think it could be for the 120-300.

It seems more lightly given the probable subject, I'm supprised the hoods are the same but it's possible they use a standard hood to save money.
 
Sigma hood model codes are confusing. It should be something like LH-780-04. The LH stands for Lens Hood, the 780 means 78mm (not the filter size!), and 04 is for the specific lens. The confusing part is they often only print LH-780 on the hood so you have to work out which lens it is for!

Genuine Sigma hoods aren't cheap either, I had to pay £24 for a new one after I lost one at Glastonbury (oops!)
 
Code for the 10-20mm lens is LH825-04 or 510N24 and the code for the 120-300mm is 136E36. Some sites do picture the small petal type hood for the 120-300 but this it seems is incorrect as the hood for this lens is actually a very deep non petal type.

If it turns out that it is for the 10-20mm and no one claims it I would be interested in buying it as long as you cant find its original owner as I lost my hood a little while ago (although not in Richmond Park lol).

It doubt that it's for a 120-300 Ryan. They use a whopping great big 6" tin can with a bolt on the side! :D
 
the old 28-300 takes that hood as well, possibly more likely with the subject. Whats the finish on it, the speckled stuff or just the matt plastic?
 
In that case I would suggest it's for a wide lens. Caleb - it almost feels like felt to the touch - definitely not plastic. I guess "speckled stuff" would be pretty accurate :D

Yes we've lost a few 24-70's over the years, their not cheap.

I've had a lens hood smashed by a break dancer's foot before too, shouldn't have got so close.... very glad I wasn't an inch closer though ;)
