Didn't you have a CD that came with your camera with some RAW converting software?

I think with Nikons you get given NX Viewer or something like that :)

he could be in the same boat as me, camera bought second hand with no cd. i used to use sony's pmb software which was great but now i use adobe bridge to sort my images, camera raw to edit the raw file and photoshop to edit the jpeg

If you go to the Nikon website you can download for free, View NX, it's very good, i use it for my nef files.

Have you tried using ACR within Elements?

I may well be wrong on this one, but I thought ACR only did .DNGs. I tried it for a while and it did not open .PEFs (Pentax RAW).

I use the latest Faststone image viewer which has a reasonable image editor built in. Good thing is it costs nowt :D

ACR does all types of raw files, just some later cameras are not supported on the older versions (there used to be a sticky about this at the top of the forum).

However, you should be able to use the Adobe DNG convertor to convert your PEF files to DNG to use with ACR.

D'Oh - checking my software archives, the program I was thinking of was their DNG converter.

My bad. :bonk:
