FTP and photocart please help

ok i just brought a photo cart gallery and paid the bit extra to have it installed as i am crap at this sort of thing.
I go to the page where i need to put my information in and it asks for a FTP user name and password ?@X*?.
I have made my web site on iweb and i brought my domin name from 1and1.uk i have looked on 1and1 and can't find it on there perhaps as i only brought the domin name from them do i need to buy something extra? or is it already on my imac i'm lost!!!

Any help would be great if not i ring them tomorrow

When you create a web page to go on your site, how do you get it from your computer to the website?

Normally the answer is to upload it with an FTP program, which will require a username and password to log in to the server where your website is hosted - this is the username and password I think it is asking you for (note - I am guessing a little here as I also don't know anything about this photo cart you are talking about so I am assuming that it requires this FTP login and not something completely different).

You need somewhere to put your website (hosting) have you got this? The domain name just points to where your website is hosted.

Did you by a hosting package with your domain name?

The FTP details will have been sent to you when you set the hosting up probably. They can be found in your hosting control panel usually.

I'm guessing the ftp details are requird to allow the photo cart to be installed in this case.

hi all sorted, i have a web.me.com site which i did on iweb which didn't work with photocart my domin was with 1and1 but i didn't host with them just redirected to my website so now i have a host and new domin with 1and1 and will link from my website to that one if that makes any scene!!!
This is a bit to much for me!!!!

Everyone gets told that building a website is easy, but that's just half of it. Once you design your pages (a task in istelf for a novice), then where and how are you going to get them on the internet (that's when the fun starts)???

Hi yep, it's all done now there is a link from my iweb site i built to the new domain site which has photocart on. I feel so proud of myself it's all up and running and i got my 1st order today though paypal!! I do need to customize it more that i will do that when I can.
