Yes
Getting the dreaded FEE error with the above combo.
50mm works fine on D300 and all my other lenses fine on the S5.

Cleaned contacts on lens and body but can't think of anything else to do as have a stinking headache at the moment.
Focus on body set to S

Oh, AF is working it just won't meter

Should add lens is locked at min ap.

Suggestions in a thread please.

Thanks

Can't think what would be causing this.. especially as it'll AF which suggests contacts are fine (and you've locked the lens to minimum aperture).

It's got me at the moment, still the headaches finally gone thank god:)

are there any total reset settings on the body?

and start from scratch

i would also remove batterys for 1/2 an hour anythings worth a try

something thing that happened to me the other day and i thought the lens was broken

the rubber hood slid back and stopped af [cheap chinese one]

I have a very similar problem with a Nikon 70-300 ED, any resolution found after this?

Nah everything but the 50 works on the S5 Pro, so I keep the 50 for the D300 on which it works fine.
One of lifes little mysteries I guess?

I know the S5 Pro pretty well, and this has me stumped.

Can't think how it will meter, but not AF...

Tother way round, for me at least.

Connected lens and it'll AF all I like. Just can't shoot anything. Looks like the lens is going. :/

Oh, just worked it out. For me at least :) I was being an ejit.

it was the aperture ring... overiding the body. Switched into null I presume, and it works.

The aperture ring needs to be set fully stopped down, but that would cause it to stop working on the D300 as well. On all non G AF lenses (as far as I know) the smallest aperture is painted orange on the lens, and there's a lock next to the ring to fix it in place.

You may not have found out, that with the Nikon Nikkor 50mm AF F1.8D Lens and Fuji S5 Pro combo has a design flaw.Even if you lock the lens at minimum aperture this is still not enough for the S5's Aperture ring, you will find if you move the outside aperture ring 5mm or so further around the camera works fine, without any problems. This same problem happens with Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 EX D Aspherical lens, not sure what other lenses this problem crops up with.
Hope this helps anyone, even if its an old thread !!! P.s my first post !!!
