Fab. Loving the Eagle
Me too
Fab. Loving the Eagle
The 55-200 is a brilliant lens. I was just wondering about your distance to these birds?I wish! Just the xt1 and a 55-200 for me...Thanks guys, the eagle is my favourite too.
Well, I have come to a decision. I am giving up trying to work the Fuji system. Even with the nice lady from their support team trying to get me to understand it all - it is just way too complicated for me. I simply can't work it. So, I shall be selling up - a very expensive mistake I know. XT2 body with motordrive unit, 16-55 f2.8 and 50-140f2.8 with 1.4x converter and the little flash, in a Lowepro bag, even an expensive polariser. That little experiment will probably cost me the best part of £2000 in losses for the sum total of about 500 shots.
Oh well, you live and learn.

Just a simple Fujigraph taken at Folkestone East Cliff Kent UK of what I can only describe as a Giant Listening/Speaking Device.

Thank you Sir, you’re reply sure is appreciated.
“Its really surprising if you put an ear to the smaller end, you can quite clearly hear the drone of the engines from passing ships a long way out in the channel”
George.
I think this is one of the system of aircraft engine detectors which was built along the south coast before WWII, they were rendered obsolete when the experimental work of Robert Watson Watt to detect aircraft using high frequency radio waves (radar) was successful.
Aw, thanks Alan! Sorry about the very slow response, but I was camping and effectively off grid bar SMS for a few daysAbsolutely this ^^
Thank you Sir, you’re reply sure is appreciated.
“I thing you maybe thinking of the “Sound Mirrors” which are still in place along the cliffs and other areas of the coast and are made of concrete. This contraption has only been there for a little while and is made of moulded fibre glass or a similar composite material”

Thanks George, you are quite right, I was and as you have said they are of a different construction. Where is the contraption you photographed, I'll have a look at it the next time I'm down that way.

Its just a little way up past the “East Cliff Pavilion” and easily accessible on foot.
George.
Fun fact: They mistakenly sent me an XT1 version of the grip when I ordered the XT10 one, AND they let me keep it. I moved it on because I didn't think i'd ever get an XT1. DOH!
Unless you need the weather sealing or plan on getting the grip too, might as well stick with the xt20.I am off on holiday in two day's and I am getting seriously tempted to pick up a XT-20 at the airport. The only thing putting me off is the fact that i will always have a voice in my head telling me I should have held out until I can afford and XT-2. Very conflicted right now, lets see what happens when a new shiny shiny is sitting in front of me in departures..... [emoji38]

Have you handled both of them? They sit totally differently in the paw. Some, myself included, found the smaller iterations (T10/T20) too small even with a grip. I found myself mistakenly hitting buttons with the fleshy part of the thumb.I am off on holiday in two day's and I am getting seriously tempted to pick up a XT-20 at the airport. For me the xt20 is too small even with the grip. But if you want it for your holiday then maybe the size of it will be a good thing?I am off on holiday in two day's and I am getting seriously tempted to pick up a XT-20 at the airport. Gone quiet in here....
Here's a few I shot quite a while ago. Didn't think much of them so never bothered processing etc. I saw a few photos processed with a certain style I liked and decided to try and emulate it, but I was away from my external disk which holds all my lightroom pics. These were the only suitable ones in my local "Temp" folder, so I gave it a go. They turned out better than expected, but are really just a test. I've never really been one to dramatically change colour palettes or add heavy vignettes etc, but I'm finding more and more that I love photos with a really heavy late summer/early autumn feel - Lots of golds, browns, reds. Very warm. quite dark. Almost a nostalgic feel.
Much like when most people discover HDR, I imagine these are nausia-inducing for most - But for me it's a first step towards recognising a style that I like, beginning to practise and perfect it, and ultimately, make it my own.
Criticism and advice is more than welcome.

Thanks guys. Number 3 is probably my favourite just because the trees seem so grand. I'll have to go back soon and grab a stitched shot to get some better framing.
I can't wait to start shooting with this in mind, especially with autumn around the corner.
The XH-1 thread is like a morgue, can't it be merged with this one ? We are all family after all or are you guys scared it will bring on severe attacks of GAS ?
