Got a great deal on this demo unit off eBay so thought I'd give it a shot. I've modified it slightly by adding RRS quick release plates and it's now 2 seconds to setup. Have to say, for the money, it seems a decent bit of kit and is ideal (reversed) for accurate macro focus with a Fuji X30/20/10 etc.. where near focus can be 1cm. I'll review it over the next few days with the X30 in mind. Here it is with the RRS B2-LLR-II QR in place. It's mounted on the RRS BH-30 and Gitzo G1098 Basalt via an RRS B2-40-LR clamp. @Kodiak Qc You can guess why I got this.. o_O

I think you did a great shot of your new gear Duncan!
I hope your new gear will do some great shots for you!

Have to say, this is proving a handy bit of kit. My only concern with using this which a larger camera would ultimately be the overall movement level. You definitely need to be careful and allow a few seconds to make sure the entire setup is perfectly still before shooting. It's ability to help frame a close-up macro shot is quite brilliant, though, especially if you're using a compact like the X30 where your lens be virtually touching the subject.

can i put a step up ring directly onto the fuji x30 lens a 40-49 to allow me to use an ND filter? SRB sell them

oh that brill so all i need is that step ring and it won't damage the lens when you zoom right Dunc?
