Yes
Hey,

My canon 100mm macro has some fungus in it :gag:

If I send it to Canon to be cleaned/repaired does anyone know roughly how much this would cost?

Do they charge for looking at it, as I might send it to them to see if its worth repairing.

Cheers

Not sure if they will charge for looking at it. I had a Bronica 75mm lens some time ago with fungus. I was told it could be easily cleaned off if it wasn't too established. They sorted mine out ok - I suspect it depends on how deep into the coating it has got.

Hi you don't say where abouts you are but I recently had an old Nikon zoom cleaned and a spec of fungus seen to at Premier electronics of Sheffield. Made a lovely job and cost £70.00

Cheers Guys, I'm in Glasgow so there is a Canon authorised repairer in Glasgow but I've never used them.

I got an email back from Canon to say the estimate is free, but they cannot tell me how much the return postage is if I dont get the repair done?

I'd have thought they would use RMSD or the like insured to the value of your lens - a quick weigh and look at Royal Mail prices should give you an idication.

Just to let you guys know, Canon CPS charge £130 to replace the front group of elements, test and calibrate this lens :(

Not ideal, but it's worth it to get a perfect lens!

I know, just a pain when the car needs a new timing belt as well

But so far quite impressed with Canon CPS communication, its the 1st time I've had to deal with them and so far so good.
