This weekend I went to the Download music festival - Donington or Monsters of Rock as it used to be called.
While there, we usually spend most our time with a friend of my wife's, who runs a music website and gets VIP passes.

On the first day, the topic of photography came up and I mentioned how much I've goten into photgraphy over the past year, and he said "Oh, I wish I'd known. My photographer cancelled on me 3 days ago and I've had to rush in a replacement."

I could have had a full photographer's pass for download, getting up close to shoot Faith No More, Korn, Slipknot, Def Leopard, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson, Dragonforce, Trivium, The Prodigy, Whitesnake, Motley Crue, Pendulum and loads more :'( :'( :'(


Still, he's promised me a photographer's pass for next year :D
 
That does suck for sure...at least you didn't miss any good bands though....:lol::exit:

I am only joking, prodigy rock and whitesnake......:notworthy:

I'm really jealous as shooting that would be a dream come true. :)

I managed to catch all of the Slipknot set via the live stream (they were awesome as usual). It's a pity Marilyn Manson, Whitesnake and Def Leppard did not consent to the streaming.

Nah....Coverdale's lost it. We saw them last year and he couldn't hit the notes. The keyboard player was doing most of the vocals! Still a cracking set though!
 
Download was awesome this year! I was there too! Woo!

You are extremely lucky if you get a pass to get on the stage. It is my dream to do that one day. At the moment I can only take shots from the crowd, but that can be quite hard to do with all of those damn hands and flags waving about the place!
 
could be a good thing, this way you'll have been prepping and shooting gigs in the run up so you will defo get awesome shots and maybe make enough of a name to get more passes..... bright side

You didn't miss much with Marilyn Manson - he sucked. Virtually no crowd interaction and sang badly. I just get the feeling he was here for the money.

Whitesnake and Def Leopard are not my thing, but it was fun to see them live, legends that they are. Speaking of which, ZZ Top were great :D

For me, the best bands were, in order:
Korn
Faith No More
Prodigy
Pendulum
Limp Bizkit

That's probably why Marilyn Manson did not agree to the live stream. :)
