Gas BBQ - John Lewis ones any good?

I plan to get a new gas BBQ - looking to spend up to £300 and ideally want one with 2/3 burners. My current one was bought at a local shop no longer there and as I want to avoid the cheap rubbish normally sold in B&Q was keen to know if anyone has a John Lewis one and how they find it? Any recommendations would be great.
 
I have a small Gas Webber (JL Sell them), eliptical shape, brilliant and so very easy to clean. I've had numerous Gas BBQ's over the years and because of all the fiddly bits I find I get rid of them as they just dont stay clean enough. The griddle is best if enamel coated, avoid Stainless Steel like the plague, Cast Iron is ok (my present one is CI) as they clean up fine but enamel coated is miles better. Look for nooks and crannies that support stuff, because a GAs BBQ doesnt get as hot as a charcoal one and charcoal ones tend not to have fancy supports the gas ones just gum up with fat eventually. Except my Webber, it comes off the stand and can be taken indoors for a good scrub up, very few crevices and the burner doesnt mind getting wet.

Yep, definitely get an enamel or cast iron griddle/rack.
Check the gas pipelines and that they are convenient. My last BBQ it was kinda in the way.
Also, look after it. The quickest way to kill a BBQ is to not look after it. Mine always go that way unfortunately because I'm lazy.
Also a decent fat catcher.

My last BBQ the bottom of it was a tray and the fat ran to a hole which dripped into a container.
The current one, the bottom is 'open' and has a tray that you line with sand and slide in the back. Much easier to clean and keep on top of.
 
and if you're really into it, ask Mr Marcel for his infamous BBQ recipe! It is awesome!!!!
 
Weber or outback are 2 I would recommend, the outback is our larger one with 3 burners and enamel griddles and the weber is smaller and portable.
 
Yeah a man that cooks meat perfectly, as opposed to incinerated or raw meat. :)
Never was a boy scout just cant get on with charcoal BBQs. Last time I tried it I used a small portion of the Amazon rain forest and the contents of the underground storage tanks of our nearest petrol station. Bit much really for 4 sausages.
 
I've been using a charcoal Weber for donkey's years. It's perfect for roasts, braais and smoking food, and just about bulletproof. Never got interested in gas, but I know people who do use gas Webers and they seem pretty happy with them, particularly if you're in a hurry.
 
I've got a JL BBQ. They're fine and never knowingly undersold
 
Pah, Coal or Gas, either is fine. It's about controlling the heat and smoking the food, not the heat source IMO.
I used to be coal all the way until I bought a gas BBQ. It's so much easier. You can have it going in 10 minutes, cleaned and ready for food. There's so much kerfuffle with coal.

I do, however, need to learn how to BBQ properly, beyond the usual recycled floormeat crap (burgers, sausages etc).
And learn how to stop my BBQ burning food when the lid is closed :p (Even on the lowest heat)
 
Have both - Weber charcoal and a gas. Good thing about the gas is the speed if you want grilled arfter work - ours also has vertical burners round the edges to minimise fat spitting and flaring up.
