Cant be sure if this has been a topic before, but here it is again.

i have been looking around to find a suitable/tidy way of getting my portable studio kit around, i have looked a various holdalls/carry cases but none of the seem to be a decent size. I have measured my light stands and found them to be a comfortable 100cm in length.

Is there such a holdall availible and if so where can i found one??
I would be interested in what everyone else uses

I've seen that some people on Flickr use hockey stick bags to put their light stands/umbrellas etc in. Personally I just use a couple of velcro straps and bind the umbrellas to the stands for transit.

thanks for that mikeeb

As it happens I don't have any studio kit - but if I did I'd use one of my drum hardware/cymbal stand bags that I have lying about the garage as they are 47" long (in old money) with a handle at one end and wheels at the other

sell it to meeeeee, 47 inchs is plenty:thumbs:

Would a golf bag take them? They seem to be quite long and you can get wheels for them.

If you'd prefer a hard case It's be worth looking at either the Peli cases link_here or the Storm cases by Hardigg, link_here

Both are really good and virtually indestructable, but unfortunately not cheap. They do all sorts of sizes though.

cheers
Bill

thanks guys/gals

:plusone: That the Hardcase one Ian? We use those longboxes at work and if they can take being slung around on the back of a C130 they can survive anything. Top notch kit, and when I buy my studio kit they'll be next on the list.

Just for info, the cricket and hockey bags seem to have a max length of about 100cm/39-inches or so.

I got a 70cm/28-inch long wheeled grip in Morrison's last week, reduced from £40 to £10 (usual market stall price is £25). Not long enough for stands, but I use `em for other gear.

I bought a Bowens Kit that came bagged-up already - had them for years now, extra space in the top of the main light bag for all the cables, extension leads, flash-meter etc etc.

Do you really want one bag for it all?

My studio kit is in three bags - two lights/meter/cables, softbox/brollies, stands/boom. I couldn't carry that lot in one, plus it would be a job getting it in the car. And then when you get that extra light you've been promising yourself, it won't fit!

I've got a complete Elinchrom setup with 4 of everything RX600's stands, brollies, soft boxes, cables, gels and a whole bunch of bits and bobs and it all fits into one TAMRAC case with roller wheels, very robust and nothing has ever got damaged. It wasn't cheap though, cost me £300 quid but when you consider it holds £3,500 of kit its worth it

thanks everyone for comments, i managed to sort myself a padded holdall.cheers all round
