So I've been photographing for two years and have been quite keen to shoot jepg. I only really played around with curves on my version of paint shop.

Recently my computer failed and I have now ordered a new one. Rather frustratingly I have lost the disc for Paint shop. How ever it wasn't very good. as far as could see I could not open Nikon Raw files.

So what is a good (and cheapish) photo editing program that can open Nikon Raw files without conversion?

I also release that I will need a monitor calibrator I want to buy the Pantone Huey because it s the cheapest and I like the idea that it can change with the daylight in the room, if it works! Is there a better option?

Photoshop Elements 8. About £57

Ooo I like free! Cheers for the replies,

I've found a student version (I am a student!) for £45 on Dabs so I'm happy.

So there are no disaster stories with the huey then?

Cheers Stuart

Ive been using a Huey for about three years now and not had a problem till recently. The widget must of gone worng as when it calibrated it, for some reason, the reds showed up as orange no matter what I did to it. However, after a few emails to Pantine they sent me a brand new Huey Pro without question.
