getting upset with the mac

Has anyone else got problems when viewing their 24" iMac under normal to dark room lighting?

Mines on the minimum setting for brightness and it's still retina burningly bright

Colours when editing are brighter as a whole on the mac compared to my laptop and my iphone. Both the phone and lappy look similar while the imac is bright and a bit lurid

There seems to be a lot of talk around the net of this and the use of Apps to reduce or mask the screen.

i find my display bright at minimum settings but i like it and never noticed any problems with prints so far....

If you haven't calibrated it since new, the gamma will be set at 1.8 where everything else is 2.2. Apple have finally gone with everybody else with snow leopard, when it comes out.

The only way to properly calibrate a screen is to get a hardware calibration device.
