Going Amsterdam next week :)

Anyone been before, whats it like for taking photos? Feel free to give me tips on what to look out for, Im so excited

beware, cameras and the red light district do not mix, you'll get the girls banging on the windows to call the heavies over to 'talk' to you about yor camera.

Everywhere else is wonderful, from the Train Station to the canals & architecture.

You'll have a great time.

Its a stunning place, been lucky enough to have worked near amsterdam and had a few nights out, its manic at night.

It is a very nice place but I would put your camera away if you go near the red light district as when I went there the other year I got a feeling you would not be welcome there with a camera.

Its a stunning place to take photos, I have some crackers from the streets and buildings around town. Great for street photography too, so many characters there!

Tip, shoot wide and from the hip in crowded streets

I took a camera to Amsterdam for a weekend once, a long time ago. When I got the photos back it was like looking at somebody else's photos. I didn't remember a damn thing about that weekend, apart from feeling a bit woozy on the return flight. Must have been good

haha, thanks for the advice, I went for a driving lesson tonight and my instructor told me that he went a few years ago, he said to beware of the red light district haha. How would I know id be coming upto it? lol or are there many ? lol

I guess you have to visit to make your own judgement but i`ll give it a go haha
