After taking a few macro shots with the centre column on the tripod set to the horizontal position, it was still in this position with the camera facing down when I released the quick release bracket (manfrotto) it somehow slipped my hands and was heading for destruction on the kitchen floor, I amazingly found the reflexes to catch it when it was half way to it's hard landing

Next time I will make sure the camera/tripod is in the normal position before removing :bonk:

Closest I have been to damaging my gear, just thinking what might have been:eek:

GULP!!!!!!!!! bet your heart was in your mouth for a minute

Bet that was a relief.
Quite taken aback at the number of posts from folk who drop their kit.
Then again I have seen a lot of pics of folk holding their cameras with the neckstrap not around their neck.

I've only ever dropped it or nearly dropped it when not using it ie uploading pics or just sitting on the desk then the neck strap can get caught on stuff and lead to falling,,,, must get CF reader

I have a neck strap on all my bodies the active camera though is held in my hand, with the strap wrapped round my forearm/wrist in case it gets knocked.

Don't think I have moved so fast in all my life, probably spurred on by the replacement cost!!. Funny thing is after ringing Glover & Howe yesterday for an insurance quote I nearly did it there and then over the phone, imagine if I had and then rang up today to place a claim, they would have no doubt viewed that with suspicion :suspect:.

Hmm.We Scots have some catching up to do. It has been said of me that if I dropped a 50p it would hit me on the back of the head when I bent down to pick it up!:lol:

Good to hear your gear is safe though.
