Hey, I like to take close ups of stuffs like flowers so i want to have a macro lens perhaps a 22.5 mm? I just cant deside the "body"

Nikon D40 if your starting out....  Just so happens that there is one in the FS Nikon thread... :naughty:

Thanks, abit of saveing to do and i'll get a sony a200 with a 30mm F2.8 macro lens :) I hear the reviews are quite good so :)

Looking on ebay a secound hand one for arround £170 unfortunatly without a 30mm Fs.8 macro lens but i can always buy that lens :)

Never buy on the basis of a review. It is after all the personal opinion of the reviewer

You should buy

The body that feels most comfortable to use in YOUR hands

That has the Most intuitive control and menu layout for YOU

That fits YOUR budget

Is able to cope with the types of photography YOU want to shoot.

So, go to the shops and try them all out.

Have fun :)

Definitely would recommend try out the different camera bodies before you buy, as mentioned, the comfort of handling and ergonomics of the camera are very important and each manufacturer have their own querks.

The Sony 30mm macro lens does look impressive, 2cm minimum focal distance.

The A200 is abit old tech and not sure I would buy a camera off eBay, would prefer abit more piece of mind and buy at 1 of the specialised 2nd hand dealers like MBP or Park Camera's to mention 2, at least you know they've check it over and offer some sort of warrantee (3-6 months), you just don't know the prior history from something bought on eBay.

It really depends on your budget, you could also look in the for sale section on TP

I've never seen a 22.5mm lens and 30mm seems a bit short for macro even on APS-C. Actually, I can't say that I've ever seen a 30mm macro either.

Maybe a 50mm macro could be worth a look? It'll give a little more working distance and still be wide enough for more general use.

I do a lot of flower shots and normaly use a 50mm f2.5 or 150mm f2.8 macro or even just a normal 50mm f1.4 or 17-50mm f2.8 zoom, but 30mm seems an oddish choice for macro to me.

On to the camera body, I manage with a 20D but others who are really into macro like high mp count cameras.

Hiya

If you can persuade your parents to buy you a dSLR then the best advice is to get to a shop with them, pick up a few camera's and see how they feel to you
Bear in mind that you may continue with this hobby so it may be important to consider what will last you as your photography grows.
I should not worry too much about macro lenses etc until you have the body etc you like:thumbs:

Good luck

Cheers

sony makes a 30mm f2.8 macro and it does seem weird and a bit short for macro, alternatively go for a second hand minolta 50mm f2.8 macro or tamron 90mm f2.8 macro.

Well...you learn something every day.

But I'd imagine that at 30mm you'll be pretty much on top of the subject and will stand the risk of blocking more light or frightening the subject away, but I'm only guessing as I've never tried one but it would be good for general use and the occasional close up shot of something that isn't going to fly or run away :)

the 30mm is more of a flower lens that mainly does close ups of petals etc, or if you need detailed product shots.
