Having been using my HXR5 for a few months now and getting lots of great video out of it, but I do feel its time to get a good sturdy tripod, the one I have isn't bad but it doesn't really seem great either, its a Vanguard Alta pro 236 legs with the PH114 head, it is stable but as I film lots of fast jets at Coningsby and Lakenheath it does seem to struggle keeping the shakes at bay and even keeping up with the aircraft as the drag isn't too good, so I think its time to invest in something that really is designed for the job, the kit I am looking at is the Manfrotto 546 legs which do come as B or GB and I cant seem to find any difference in them apart from price, the head I will be getting is the Manfrotto Nitrotech N8 as it seems to be the best around for the money I want to spend, but and its a big but, are there any more tripods I should be looking at and really I dont want to go over my limit of around a grand for a tripod, the wife would skin me alive.
