Grade ll Listed Petrol Station.

One of the news stories of yesterday was that two petrol stations in the midlands had been given protected status. The one in Leicester is not too far from me,so I decided to go over and take a few pics.
This one was shown on the East Midlands news and weather programme last night. First time I have sent one in,so very pleased.

I have driven past the little chef on the A1 so many times and thought how cool it was and how good a skateboard ramp it would make.

I think there used to be one of the mushroom ones in Bolton but it had been modified to make a full canopy but the round bits were still visable. i always remember them looking like they were spinning slowly as you drove past.

It's nice to see examples of modern architecture in relatively normal situations get recognition and protection. That's a noce shot of it.

i think that that petrol station would make a far cooler subject for a ten-stopper than the usual beach/sea/rocks stuff. Middle of the day, 10 minute exposure.... Surreal architecture and no signs of life....
