I'm thinking of building a new windows 7 64bit system...

Which graphics cards should I be looking at?

I'm interested in using it for photoshop, illustrator and sketchbook pro and possably video editing.

Which is better: nvidia or ati? which cards should I be looking at in there ranges?

well you wont need anything special for photo editing but you will for video.

as for ati vs nvidia, thats a bit like the mac vs pc or canon vs mac debate..

That should do what you want. If you can stretch a little higher they do the 9800GT for £70.

raid is fine however its not a backup solution. i recommend an additional external drive to back up to, even with mirroring i have had raid controllers fail in the past and it has made both drives unreadable. its better to be safe than sorry.
