Gutted - lost photos

Went to Tasmania for a few days as part of my Australian visit over Xmas and New Year - and looking through the photos that I took it looks like I have lost a whole 8GB card of photos that cover 2 days in Tasmania. :'(

I am usually so careful in copying photos but I guess not careful enough.

Feel numb, and hoping that I have misplaced the card somewhere, but I know that I am clutching at straws

Is the card lost? If not, stop right there- there is software which can (possibly) recover the images, just don't use them again/delete anything off there.
 
I have some recovery software that might work, send me a PM if you find the card and need some help.

I've had the numb sinking feeling too, then smugness when i was able to recover them :)
 
Thanks for the suggestions.

I have checked all the cards with Recuva and although that did find deleted photos none were in the numbered range that are missing. :(

My only hope (beside a misplaced card) is that the card in my camera at the moment is the card I used - and that I can get some back (some will be gone as I have taken some photos on it).

I'll definitely not be making this mistake again.
