:bang:,, Whilst at my parents house today i was just getting my little girl out of the the car and all of a sudden i could hear what sounded like a chinook overhead, i darted out of the car to see and all of a sudden 2 apache gunships cruised over the top of the house's, must have been at max no higher than 100ft, my camera was in the boot packed away in its bag so im gutted i missed these pair....:bang::bang::bang:

Wounded! But if they've been there once they might be there again. The other option is head for somewhere you know Apaches are based and sit and wait for one!

just 2 ? I completly forgot about fly over by royal navy planes and helicopters above my buildings and Thames and left my camera home... so I missed 18 helicopters and 8 jets flying in formation....Got told by military staff that same should be taking place tomorrow so I will be taking my camera tomorrow ;)

I had similar bad luck last summer while driving along the A14, just as the (last remaining?) Lancaster bomber flew over. It had been doing a flyby at Bletchly Park.
:(

i find it annoying when you see something good and you havent got your camera ready maybe keep a small compact camera with a good zoom in the front lol.

Tell me about it!

Last year we had a Chinook fly low over our house, I called my wife when I heard it coming (camera, what camera).

She waved to them and blow me if they didn't wave back - yes they were THAT low!

I have just started a new job and it means I get to travel around Essex quite a bit. When I started I said to myself that I would pop the camera in the car.

Second time out I was over near Epping and North Weald Air Field and just after I got there, a Spitfire took off from N Weald and provided us with 20 minute show directly overhead.

and you guessed it, I had not brought my camera out. :bang:

PAH - you all have no commitment to 'copter/plane photography IMO :shake:

I've spent the last 20 years lying on my back in the road 8 hours a day waiting for some such to happen (it never has)

One day though... one day...

:p:p:p

I was driving along down a country road at 50-60mph at 4am the week before last and as I looked to my left there was a large owl 20 feet to the side of the car proving that it would go as fast as me! It stayed there for all of 10-15 seconds before peeling off giving me a superb view. My camera was on the passenger seat in its bag but I thought driving the car was probably the better option :)
