I used this the other night to locate Jupiter

App is called : Google Sky Map & its free

It works by showing a view on your screen of the night sky with the details you want showing, so as you pan around, it'll tell you that Venus is over... here, or Jupiter is up... there

It's handy for pinpointing items in order to photograph them, or even to see if they're still below the horizon and you can work out where they'll appear when they rise.

There's another great app that tracks the Space Station with info on tracking the flight direction/elevation/time it is visible and even gives an idea of the weather for the best clear skies...

Some of the AR (augmented Reality) apps are great if you apply them with a bit of thought.
