....... If you are in and out of the bag a lot whilst on the move they are not much use but for general transport they are okay...
Tony

And yes I keep seeming to buy replacement bags as well![]()
.
anyone used a foam filled aluminium flight case for a camera bag..?
camera bags are stupid prices for what you get
and this could sustain a lot of bumps
similar to "here" at Maplins for £29
............. at one point I had 9 daysacks not to mention the full size stuff .......I would love a 35 or a 50 too but struggling to find one s/h to match my meager budget.
And yes I keep seeming to buy replacement bags as well![]()
The last bag he bought is a cracker....
which was......?
If you have kit you don't use sell it and buy something you will use
well the F3 and lens is up for sale ...
plan to keep the Canon A1 - nostalgia of many many years, and plan to use film again
but the D5000 is a prob - may need to move to a backpack style
It holds a lot of gear but a full days walking a backpack suited me more.He bought my Lowepro Reporter D400AW.It holds a lot of gear but a full days walking a backpack suited me more.
They are not as strong as Peli cases which a lot of people use, me included. If you need a supplier for the foam let me know as we have a place just round the corner that chops it up to specific sizes
Some of the cheapo aluminium cases really are not very strong though......
LOL - done that kind of thing myself.haha - I bought a full-size sack for 3day solo trek all around Glen Shiel - packed, food, 1-man alpine tent etc - couldn't lift it off the floor...![]()
Budget..? notice you have a D40..........I read many people dont like the 50mm once they got it, and preferred the 35mm focal length.
However I used an older Nikkor 50mm f2 Ai lens on my D40 for some time before mounting it onto my F3.......it wasn't too hard to focus using the green "indicator" light in the D40 view-finder. Bought here mint £65
Alas since losing my job I no longer have debit/credit card so I can't use ebay ATMyou can get a 28mm or 35mm Nikon Series E lens [which BTW are all Ai-S versions] off eBay for about £40-50 if you are patient
in fact - if you want to play, my local Charity shop has a Nikon FG-20 with a 50mm f1.8 Series E lens for £28 - I'll see if it is still there tomorrow
Oooooh sounds very intesting.
I do get a little confused with older nikon stuff and compatability, I know what won't AF but as regards to metering etc I get lost.
Mind you chimping is my natural mode even with modern lenses
I've got a couple of those Maplin cases for holding my flashes , the were something like £19 on special offer, the also do a Peli-type plastic version
If you don't want the FG I'll go halves with you![]()
Nice offer but I think it would be a step up from my MTL 5B, which is the bestof my current film kit.
Tony
Heck, I've got an MTL5B too. You are right, I think you need the FG![]()
Yes I do
Will be an incentive to off load a chunk of my M42 stuff and only keep the bit I will use. And invest in some more stuff for the Fg (If I can get it).
Tony
You can always get plenty of stuff for a Nikon though
You can probably get an M42 adapter but I don't think I'd bother.....
