this may come in bits as I'm swapping between Browsers

ok - after reading some neg comments about FF4
i downloaded IE8....seems to runs ok last few days

Just opened IE8, went to Photobucket
flashing banner ''You are 10,000 visitor and a Winner etc etc''....:razz:
tried to close and got another pop-up selling a black ipod thing
could NOT close browsers ---shut it all down......:thinking:

restart -- open IE8 ---open PhotoBucket
interesting banner and a NEW button...''Watch in HD''

I'm getting so goddamn fed-up with wasting time - all I want is a secure browser....anyway ....thoughts welcome

photobucket has always had "interesting" adverts.. IE, FF and Ch all display the "you are a winner" type adverts here.

just dont click the buggers, even if they look like they have a "close" button that is just part of the advert. its not a pop up its just an image within the photobucket webpage.

Neil ......sorry dont understand

for the last months I have used Photobucket with NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER

now this

the pop-up [whatever] will not allow me to shut down the browser - locks- so why do i have to put up with this crap - and how do i by-pass if it happens again

and YES i'm ****ed off.....:D

never EVER saw this on FF4 BTW

dont see why it would do that, the "congratulations" and "important message" bits are just a graphic.. unless for some reason something on the PB page is crashing IE8 (cant tell you that, im running IE9).

dont think its a trojan etc to be honest.

thanks ....i think the reason I'm a bit miffed is i spent hours downloading at 700kbps

SRWare Iron........had a German banner ...:razz:

Chromium............didn't install.....:razz:

Chromium Plus ............awful interface.......:razz:

and now rubbish on IE8/Photobucket....:lol:

i dont have enough free time to bujjer about like this

so back to FF4 and PhotoBucket....................:D
 
It could be that your FF is automatically blocking certain adverts or has an ad blocker which could explain why you can't see them there but you can on IE.
 
Also to clarify trojans are designed to metaphorically open doors to your machine, remote connection etc. Adware basically spams you with ads. Normally more an annoyance than dangerous but these days even those can be quite catastrophic.

i forgot I installed AdwareBlockerPlus on FF4

IE8...............cannot see one in their Add-ons...............SORTED

IE8....is it possible to have Google as the default Search Engine..can only see Jeeves and others...................DONE

thanks....yes once the advert opened ...it locked up the page

had to shut down the PC Power Button ..prob not a good thing to have to do
