HDR with The Gimp

I've found quite a lot of tutorials on how to create HDR's with Photoshop etc but I can't find any good ones that deals with The Gimp.

Does anyone have any links or other tips as to where I could find more info on this?

I was having a look for this myself yesterday
I read it that GIMP is still only 8 bit so true HDR can't be done. I found quite a few tutorials from a simple search, but mostly they talked about selecting areas manually from different exposure versions of the same shot inserted on different layers. Not the same as HDR on photoshop.
 
That's about what I could come up with using Google-Fu as well.

I'm not sure if you're a Windows user or not but I found a software for Linux that I'll give a go. It's called Qtpfsgui that I'm going to give a go. You can find more info here: http://qtpfsgui.sourceforge.net/
 
Good link (y) - looks like they do have a windows version of it too.
I'll have to look into that in more detail.
