I'm new to photography and i own Canon EOS M100. I would like to know what causes banding noise in CMOS sensors ? And what is the physical/technological cause? And if cause is the same in CCD and CMOS sensors?
Thank you for taking your time to read my thread, I look forward to all your responses.

Hi,

Horizontal and Vertical Banding Noise (HVBN) is caused by sensor readout, downstream amplification, and ADC. ... In modern CMOS sensors (Sony Exmor type sensors excluded), on-die CDS circuitry is often a culprit for introducing banding noise at lower ISO settings (ISO 100 through maybe 800) in the deep shadows.

I shoot Sony and don't suffer from banding :sony:
